The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor position (non-tenure, clinical track).

Primary responsibilities will involve clinical service in the Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine’s Molecular Pathology Laboratory, teaching, and scholarly activities. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the medical director and in conjunction with the laboratory to promote the mission and vision, which includes maintaining and developing new next generation sequencing (NGS) assays for oncology, whole genome and exome sequencing. Responsibilities will also include all NGS data management in the laboratory, starting with data production from sequencers, analysis, annotation, report generation, and results transfer into the EMR (Epic).

The successful applicant will contribute to medical student, resident and fellowship training in accredited programs within Pathology. Scholarly study and investigation in the applicant’s area of interest is expected. Rank and salary are negotiable, commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have an M.D., D.O., or Ph.D. degree with 3 years of work or training in a clinical laboratory running oncology NGS and pharmacogenomic assays. In-depth knowledge of molecular biology and demonstrated ability to develop NGS assays for clinical diagnostic purposes is required. M.D. or D.O. applicants should be board certified or eligible in Molecular Genetic Pathology and possess or be eligible for a Florida medical license. Ph.D. applicants should have American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) - Molecular Biology (MB) certification and be eligible or possess a valid Clinical Laboratory Supervisor (Molecular Pathology) license for the state of Florida.

Preferred Qualifications: Published research in molecular biology is desirable from Ph.D. candidates. Experience in laboratory leadership and with Epic Beaker is a plus.
