Summary

Assist in managing, developing and directing various student activities including intramural sports, outdoor adventures, and student equipment rental programs that reflect the Christian values of California Baptist University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Assist in the planning and implementation of comprehensive Campus Recreation programs.
2. Provide oversight of various intramural sports programs both on and off campus.
3. Provide oversight of the department’s intramural equipment inventory and purchasing of all intramural related items.
4. Assist in establishing and implementing short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures regarding intramural sports.
5. Assist in the recruitment, employment, training, supervision, and evaluation of student interns, intramural referees, and graduate assistants.
6. Assist in the development and management of appropriate departmental budgets.
7. Monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness and effect changes required for improvement.
8. Develop strategic annual marketing plans to further student involvement in intramural sports programs and provide oversight and execution of such plans.
9. Assist with the development and maintenance of intramural policy and procedures.
10. Maintain scheduled office hours with the requirement of a flexible schedule of availability at night and on weekends.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position could be responsible for assigning work and/or giving direction to part-time Student Workers, in order to complete office work assignments.

 Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
 Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
 Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
 Ability to maintain confidentiality.
 Excellent telephone courtesy knowledge and experience.
 Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
 Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation.
 Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
 Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
 Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
 Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
 Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
 Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
