Job Duties
The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care and the Division of Nephrology, seeks a Critical Care Intensivist/Nephrologist to work 50% in each area. This position will be at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Professor with tenure track or fixed-term appointment.

Duties include clinical care in areas of pulmonary, critical care and general nephrology in inpatient and outpatient settings; and teaching/training and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows. 

The Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at East Carolina University seeks an eligible candidate to help provide clinical services to any of the following locations at Vidant Medical Center:  

  • Medical Intensive Care Unit
  • Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
  • Inpatient Pulmonary Consult Service
  • Inpatient Critical Care Consult Service

The Division of Nephrology at East Carolina University seeks an eligible candidate to be involved in clinical activities in the outpatient clinic and at Vidant Medical Center (VMC).

Both divisions offer fellowships.  Research opportunities exist. 

The ECU Brody School of Medicine affiliates with Vidant Medical Center (VMC). VMC is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. VMC is the tertiary referral center for Vidant Health Group, a regional health center network serving 29 counties and the regions only level 1 trauma center.

Minimum Education/Experience

  • MD, DO or foreign equivalent from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • BC/BE in Critical Care or Pulmonary Medicine
  • BC/BE in Nephrology
  • Demonstrate initiative with strong clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

  • Must obtain North Carolina Medical License prior to employment.
