Academic Technologies & Innovation is a department within the
Division of Information Technology Services. Our highly qualified
and experienced specialists design inclusive, pedagogically sound,
and technology-enhanced environments that empower faculty to
achieve their instructional goals.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Academic
Technologies & Innovation, the incumbent will act as lead
programmer and designer for VR/AR immersive technologies. Duties
include to support strategies to increase immersive instruction at
CSUSB; to assist faculty in integrating emerging media into their
curricula and participate in software development in support of the
campus information technology requirements; to maintain and improve
the equipment and systems of the Extended Reality for Learning
(xReaL) Lab; to perform other duties as assigned in connection to
student success initiatives; and to assist in the planning,
implementation, and management of online instructional software,
active learning environments, and immersive learning
The functions include but are not limited to:
- In collaboration with the ATI Leadership, create and support
strategies to increase immersive instruction at CSUSB.
- Work closely with all instructional designers in ATI in
researching, reviewing, and providing recommendations on new and
emerging instructional technology tools.
- Complex adaptive problem solver.
- Offer group or one on one training to faculty and staff.
- Provide support, innovative approaches, and technologies to
students, staff, and faculty working with ATI.
- Train faculty and ATI student assistants using new, emerging
technologies and equipment.

Required Education and Experience
A Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related
Working knowledge of operating systems and scripting languages
Hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud
Platform, or Azure.
Experience with at least one game engine for virtual reality
(Unreal Engine and Unity preferred).
Excellent time management, prioritization, and follow-up skills
to ensure workflow progression within stated deadlines.
The ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of
people; strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with
constituents with diverse priorities.
Experience explaining complex technical concepts to a lay
Anticipated Hiring Range: $41,640.00- $45,804.00 Annually
Classification Range: $41,640.00 - $77,832.00 Annually
