The Institute of Human Virology (IHV; www.ihv.org ) is seeking an Associate Professor level scientist specializing in microbial infection, pathogenesis, and/or immunity in cancer or respiratory disease. Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degrees and a track record of high-impact, creative, and translational research in these areas.

Formed in 1996 as a partnership between the State of Maryland, the City of Baltimore, and the University of Maryland, IHV combines the disciplines of basic science, epidemiology and clinical research in a concerted effort to speed the discovery of diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics for a wide variety of chronic and deadly microbial infections and immune disorders. The IHV maintains ongoing efforts in structural biology, high-resolution imaging, microbial pathogenesis, cancer biology, tumor immunology, innate immunity, and inflammation, which provide unique and diverse opportunities for the development of new faculty. As a dynamic research institute at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, all IHV faculty members hold appointments in School of Medicine departments and have access to resources and benefits thereof.
