Vice President for Development


Medaille College seeks applications for a Vice President for Development. Reporting to the President, the Vice President serves on the senior management staff. He/she/they will work closely with the President to advance the mission of the College through fundraising. The Vice President for Development is the College’s senior fundraising professional.


The major responsibilities of the Vice President of Development include all activities associated with the advancement and support of the College through private philanthropy.  The Vice President shall plan and implement a strategic, comprehensive program to secure philanthropic support to meet the near and long-term needs of the College across donor constituencies. Fund-raising activities include grant writing, fund-raising events, the alumni phonathon, the corporate campaign and other annual fund activities among the various College constituencies. The Vice President for Development is also responsible for developing major gifts, a planned giving program and cultivation of donors.


The successful candidate will direct the Development office to execute a dynamic and multi-platform fundraising plan, including major gifts, annual fund, corporate and foundation support, Alumni Affairs (this is a separate activity), events, and planned giving components. Collaborates with faculty, staff and leadership to understand critical needs that can be well-served with philanthropic support. Regularly communicates with the campus community on priorities and progress. Assumes a personal major and principal gift portfolio that will lead to gifts in support of annual activity, as well as those directed to permanent endowment and capital purposes. Works closely with the College’s Board of Trustees to broaden support for Medaille College. Arranges and orchestrates activities of the governing Board of Medaille College. Serve as a liaison to the Board of Trustees’ Committee on Advancement. Works with trustees to develop and implement fundraising strategies.
