Job Description

The Manager of Workday Systems oversees the day-to-day operations in support of the Workday Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and is a key resource for the deployment of Workday Finance and Adaptive Planning systems. The Manager is highly visible within the Human Resources, Finance and Information Technology departments and plays an integral role in the continual evolution of our Workday systems. The position provides leadership to a team of system analysts, providing mentoring and guidance in support of optimal results for team members and system stakeholders. The Manager of Workday Systems ensures a high level of service with a strong commitment to quality and customer service. The Manager has an opportunity on a daily basis to positively impact our human resource and financial environment as a pivotal leader for Workday systems.

Ideal candidates have experience implementing and supporting global on-premise or cloud ERPs. Workday experience is preferred, however experience with other tier 1 ERPs are also desirable. The Manager is adaptable and can fluidly adjust to shifting business needs and priorities.

Responsibilities include the following:
  • Manage the development, planning, support system and processes to provide global ERP support infrastructure for human resource, payroll and financial systems.
  • Manage complex projects working closely with the IT Project Management Office and consistently deliver application projects with a high level of quality and functionality that meets the business user’s requirements.
  • Own overall inventory of reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, forms, and/or workflow (RICEFW) for the associated systems.
  • Coordinate with other IT functions (IT Security, Infrastructure, etc.) to perform analysis and design of applications and systems.
  • Responsible for supporting, enforcing, and integrating best practices and technology standards across the organization.
  • Responsible for hiring and professional development of direct reports.
  • Responsible for performance management.
  • Lead career development and succession management efforts to ensure retention, motivation, and engagement of current and future team members.
  • Delegates work as needed to ensure all projects are completed accurately and timely.
  • Manage outsourced work, consultants, and other internal/external relationships.
  • Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties - may perform some daily tasks depending on volume.
  • Make recommendations on strategic direction and roadmap for the use and implementation of Workday, as well as coordinated third party systems.
  • Collaborate with business partners in identifying opportunities to streamline their operations with ERP solutions.
  • Team Point of contact for yearly internal and external audits.
Qualifications

Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field is preferred.
  • At least 5+ years IT management experience.
  • Experience in higher education is preferred.
  • Experience with Workday and/or Adaptive Planning is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience implementing and supporting global ERP cloud implementations for core HCM, payroll or financial applications.Workday or Adaptive Planning experience is preferred.
  • Ability to interact with senior leaders and adapt style as needed for technical or non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience with leading cross-functional, cooperative efforts with team members across departments.Strong negotiation and team-building skills with the ability to create consensus around decisions and mitigate conflicts among different teams
  • Proven people management expertise in managing a team of diverse professionals.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and customer service skills are essential.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with ability to clearly communicate issues to a wide audience.
  • Self-starter who thrives in an ever-changing, fast-paced business environment.
  • Experience in all phases of software development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of general accounting and corporate financial reporting is preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment, including ability to use Microsoft Office desktop tools (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Consistently show ability to recognize and deal with priorities. Recognize and perform duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned-assisting others as needed.
  • Ability to lead projects using standard IT project management processes (e.g., Proposals, Charters, Workplans, etc.) and make adjustments based on individual project complexity and scope.
