Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide, Department of Engineering and Technology invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in the aerospace engineering field. Experience in engineering disciplines such as modeling and simulation, aerostructures, and electronmechanical systems is desired. Experience in a multidisciplinary field such as systems engineering is highly desirable.

Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Technology and Systems Engineering fields. Courses will be taught principally via established hybrid and online learning technologies. Duties will also include curriculum development, research, student advising, grant writing, and service to the University, profession, and community.

The Department of Engineering and Technology currently features graduate degrees in Aerospace Engneering, Airworthiness Engineering, and Systems Engineering, an Associate of Science in Engineering Fundamentals degree, a B.S. in Engineering Technology degree, and a B.S. in Engineering degree; the Department also supports minor and specialty courses of study in Engineering Science that are part of other Worldwide Campus degree programs. While the B.S. in Engneering is a general engineering degree, it is firmly rooted in the aerospace engineering discipline. The University has a large online education program, with a student body (both on campus and online) comprised largely of highly motivated career professionals seeking a degree for professional advancement or personal interest. The student body is composed of active duty military personnel, those currently employed by the aviation/aerospace industry, individuals with a deep interest in aviation, and (with the newer undergraduate engineering and engineering technology degrees) traditional students who are recent secondary school graduates. Our student body also has a strong international component with both on-campus and online students from a number of nations.

Candidates must have an earned doctorate and academic and professional/scholarly experience in engineering or an engineering-related discipline, preferably in the mechanical or aerospace engineering fields. A strong background in research methodologies and publications, a broad insight into the interdisciplinary nature of aerospace and systems engineering-related activities, and a strong interest in developing collaborative research projects in those fields as they relate to the development, use, and management of engineering concepts are expected.
