Working Title: HR (Human Resource) Office Manager Official Title: Human Resources Assistant Employment Class: University Staff FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $19.28 - $21.44 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Terms of Employment: Continuous Position Summary: This position serves as the HR Office Manager while providing administrative assistance to the Associate Vice Chancellor of Human Resources. In addition, this role will provide administrative support in all functional areas of human resources, such as recruitment, classification, payroll, and benefits. The incumbent will be a resource to the university community and will be a primary contact for disseminating information on human resource policies, procedures, and regulations. This position will be required to work on campus during the normal business hours of 7:45am – 4:30pm. UW Oshkosh provides a competitive benefits package for all benefit-eligible positions. Interprets, applies, and disseminates routine human resource policies, procedures, and options to faculty and staff

Assists with recruitment, payroll, and benefits processing and related activities, maintains employee personnel files according to established policies and procedures

Prepares and organizes routine administrative communications, resources, and reports and maintains office equipment and supplies in addition to the office budget, under close supervision

Receives and responds to inquiries in-person, via email, and through various communication mediums and relays information to appropriate entities

Manages student office workers and maintains the AVC of HR’s calendar and assists with routine administrative support.

Qualifications Required:

Must demonstrate a high level of organizational skills, confidentiality, and integrity

A strong positive customer service focus

Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment

Ability to maintain office records and to prepare accurate reports

Ability to work as a team with tact and diplomacy, as well as independently

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Flexibility, multi-tasking, excellent judgment, attention to detail and follow-through are required

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Outlook/Calendar, Word, Excel)

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field

Previous work experience with HRIS or similar software systems

Experience in providing administrative assistance and/or managing an office setting
