About the Opportunity:
This Director will provide leadership and operational oversight for the University's External Events and Conference Programs (EECP) unit by leveraging the university, corporate partnerships and locations regionally, nationally, and globally, in order to provide substantive, innovative and profitable programs and events, and position the university as a leader in this industry.

Responsibilities:
The Director will work closely with University partners in determining and managing the business and market fit for key initiatives and competitive programs, and will collaborate from the initial program idea to execution. The Director will be responsible for developing growth strategies for top university programs, and serving as a project manager for business and program endeavors. We are seeking a business-minded operational professional with a demonstrable track record. This position will also provide vision and direction to existing business including expansion and growth of our student internship housing program, pre-college and summer bridge programs, as well as oversight of external meetings and events that take place throughout the year on the Boston Campus. The Director will represent External Events and Conference Programs on behalf of the University. The Director will be responsible for the overall strategic planning efforts to expand the business and increase the revenue of the unit. They will provide supervision and direction in negotiation of contracts and pricing, development of goals, and will be responsible for growth of these programs annually. (1) Provides oversight for all external groups interested in renting space on Campus and for all contract logistics and arrangements for External Conference groups to hold an event on campus. This includes managing current client contact negotiations and client relations throughout the year, marketing to recruit new clients, oversight for the group's events on campus throughout the year, and oversight of the billing for the group once they depart. (2) Supervises the three Assistant Directors of External Events and Conference Programs. Provide supervision and expertise in negotiation of contracts and pricing, develop goals, and strategic planning efforts to assist in expanding the current model in place for providing summer conference housing to external and internal groups. (3) Responsible for ensuring high customer satisfaction levels which promote new business through referral, reference and repeat business. (4) Represent External Events and Conference Programs on the Student Affairs team; provide coordination of scheduling and event management for internal signature programs which require extensive outreach to various departments and university constituents. Serve as a liaison during peak scheduling periods to ensure “smart scheduling” of internal vs. external events and efficient use of venue space.

Qualifications:
Masters' Degree required; MBA or related field, 6-8 years progressively responsible experience with at least 3 years program and event planning experience. Demonstrated experience in new business, sales and program development.

Minimum 3 - 5 years supervision and program management experience (can be concurrent with overall experience)

Strong customer service focus and experience with or commitment to diverse populations.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Well-developed interpersonal and public speaking skills.

Team player.

Innovative problem-solving ability.

Skill in prioritizing and triaging obligations.

Integrated marketing, operational and financial acumen.

Candidate must have strong business acumen, with proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail a must.

Good working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel)
