The School of the Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced,
student-centered educator to teach Applied Voice for
Musical Theatre students during the 2021 fall semester. The College
seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active
engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean
College create a compelling and professional learning environment
for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach MUS 124:
Applied Voice. This is a 1-credit course which facilitates
individual 50-minute lessons once a week. The pay rate is $47 per

College intends to hold classes face-to-face in the fall 2021
semester, all faculty will be expected to make active use of the
learning management system Canvas at least at a minimum level
established by the College.
For the Fall 2021 semester, adjuncts should be prepared to be
flexible as both online and face-to-face teaching modalities are
expected to be offered with potential requirement to switch from
face-to-face to online, as needed in response to conditions.
The course description is as follows:
MUS 124: Applied Voice - Twelve 50-minute vocal lessons
for Musical Theatre majors given by instructors as selected by the
Dean and Applied Music Coordinator. Prerequisite: Consent of the
Dean and acceptance into the Theatre program in Musical
Provide voice instruction for undergraduate Acting/Musical
Theatre students. Help students develop good vocal production,
study habits, and vocal health based on a solid anatomical model.
Facilitate practical musical theory and strategies for study,
coaching, and fostering of students' appropriate and evolving

- A Master's Degree in vocal pedagogy, preferred;
- Ability to teach classical technique as as all periods and
styles of Musical Theatre repertoire, required;
- Maintain currency in the field, required;
- Proficient musical sight-reading and piano skills,
- Evidence of excellence in studio teaching at a professional or
higher education level, and expertise in musical theatre vocal
pedagogy and repertoire, required;
- Experience teaching at the college level both in person and

- Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to
students through college online resources and digital tools,

management system, and classroom media, required;
