The Senior Director of Admissions and Financial Aid provides
leadership for the overall strategy and integrated delivery of
admissions and financial aid functions for Harvard Kennedy School
master’s degree programs. The Senior Director serves as a key
Enrollment Services leader charged with fulfilling the department’s
vision of being a national leader in recruiting, enrolling, and
supporting the most diverse and talented graduate public
policy/administration student body.

Responsibilities:

Maintain knowledge of best
practices, new developments, and innovations in enrollment
strategies in graduate public policy/administration and higher
education
In partnership with senior
leadership, develop and implement an effective and integrated,
short- and long-range recruitment, yield, and financial aid
strategy
Oversee the application
review and evaluation process for admission and make
recommendations on the selection of candidates for admission
Collaborate with leadership
to evaluate and continuously improve admissions and financial aid
policies and processes that leverage data and technology for
optimal efficiency
Responsible for providing
accurate projections and reporting of financial aid funds and the
overall financial aid budget
Ensure compliance with
federal, state and institutional financial aid requirements and
auditing standards
Ensure compliance with
university admissions policies and procedures and applicable legal
rules and regulations with respect to students’ rights to
privacy
Lead admissions and
financial aid goal setting, planning, and process development
Represent the university at
international, national and local events
Collaborate with other
Degree Programs Student Affairs staff to ensure the success of the
overall student experience and actively support Diversity,
Inclusion, and Belonging efforts
Develop, implement, and
evaluate recruiting strategies to attract a robust and diverse
student body
Collaborate with the
Assistant Dean for Enrollment Services and Associate Director of
Enrollment Marketing on marketing strategies
Develop admissions and
financial aid reports, analyze data and trends to refine
procedures, policies and practice
Develop and implement
operational policies, procedures and training for admissions and
financial aid staff
Responsible for effective
staff management, including hiring and orientation, training and
development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion
of an inclusive and innovative work environment
Direct the audit review
process to ensure program compliance with federal and institutional
regulations
Serve as a key resource for
admissions and financial aid policies and procedures
Develop and manage the
department’s operational budget to align resources with strategic
enrollment goals
Performs other related
duties as assigned
Typical Core Duties:
- Responsible for effective staff management, including hiring and orientation, training and development, workflow and performance management, and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment
- In partnership with senior leadership, develop and implement effective, long range enrollment plans; develop target audiences, participate in admission decisions, and collaborate on the admissions profile
- Implement and evaluate marketing and recruiting strategies to attract a highly competitive and diverse student body
- Develop admissions reports, analyze data and trends to refine procedures, policies and practice
- May develop, manage and oversee departmental budget
- Lead department goal setting, planning, and process development
- Collaborate with other student services to ensure the success of the overall student experience
- Represent university at international, national and local events
- Develop and implement operational policies, procedures and training for admissions staff
- Serve as key resource for admissions policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with university admissions policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations with respect to students’ rights to privacy
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- Minimum of 8 years’ relevant work experience
- Supervisory experience
Additional Qualifications:

Master’s degree in relevant
field preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft
Office Suite, advanced Excel skills, Constituent Relationship
Management system, and other technologies that support the
enrollment management enterprise
Experience using data
analytics and predictive modeling to enhance enrollment
strategies
Advanced knowledge of
admissions principles and financial aid processes
Record of accomplishment in
leading diverse teams to meet and exceed strategic enrollment
goals
Experience serving diverse
student populations and a demonstrated commitment to racial
justice, equity, and inclusion
Ability to drive change and
deliver results in a complex, decentralized, and political
environment
Ability to maintain
effective, collaborative working relationships with internal and
external colleagues and constituents
Excellent communication
skills (both written and verbal), including the ability to deliver
dynamic and engaging presentations to large and diverse
audiences
