Employer Relations Specialist

Position Overview: Develop and deliver programs and services related to career development, career, choice, academic plans, job development, and workplace transition. Provide individual and/or group career counseling and workshops on these topics. Plan, create, and/or present informational programs. Document, reports on, and/or maintain records and evaluation information from counseling/program sessions. Represent the college during university special events and other outreach activities for current and prospective students. May coordinate internships for students with interested companies and corporations and maintain career recourse information. Assist in the design and implementation of procedures. May serve as liaison between students and employers, and persuade employers to recruit students and alumni.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

  • Design and implement marketing strategies to cultivate relationships with targeted employers and organizations and participate in community networking events, such as chambers of commerce, NACE, alumni chapters, etc. 25%
  • Manage and continuously update the customer relationship management database and assure the accuracy and integrity of the database and the overall recruiting program 25%
  • Develops new contacts with external organizations for the purpose of expanding employment opportunities for students and alumni. Maintain strong ongoing relationships with area employers that hire recent college graduates. 15%
  • Promote UCO Career Development employment-related services to employers and outside organizations and enhance employer presence on campus. 10%
  • Grow the Corporate Partner program to secure financial support to enable career center programming - 10%
  • Research and stay informed in national, state, and local hiring practices, employment trends and other labor related issues - 5%
  • Coordinate industry based recruiting opportunities and specialty career fairs - 5%
  • Compile and report data on employer relations activities - 5%


Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience Required: Requires a bachelor's degree in related field or 4+ years of equivalent work experience in chosen filed that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred : Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business, or a related discipline. Knowledge of recruiting, career services, career development, and student development. Experience with web-based career related management information programs.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to create and maintain professional networks. Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Demonstrated ability to set and achieve goals. Display creativity, initiative, and positive attitude in carrying out responsibilities. Ability to multitask. Exceptional time management skills.
