IT Services Specialist

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the position of IT Services Specialist (IT Services Specialist III) for the department of Information Technology Services.

 

Duties will include, but are not limited to:  under supervision of the Help Desk/Service Desk Manager in Client Support Services, troubleshoot and assist with software and hardware issues related to end-user applications, network connections, printer configurations, etc.;  remote or physical visit to assist in the best way possible; document services performed and solutions in the Service Center Ticket system; consult and serve as a user contact to determine office technology and network needs and install new software/equipment in designated areas;  train users to operate existing technology equipment; assist with cross-training colleagues where applicable;  write necessary training and procedure documents to assist faculty, staff and support personnel on applications and devices used; assist all ITS Client Support Services areas in the support and assistance to the University community assist the Help Desk/Service Desk Manager with the development and maintenance of operational procedures and standards as well as change management processes in alignment and collaboration with ITS goals and objectives to advance the University mission; ensure and maintain information security and confidentiality; and perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, higher education technology, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems is required. An associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.  Must have a valid SC driver’s license.  A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or a related field is preferred.  Two (2) years of experience in information technology and technical support fields is preferred.

SC State Pay Band: 05.  Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Flexible work hours required to include night and weekend hours. Some travel may be required. Information security and confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
