Job Description:

Continuing Education, Training, and Workforce Development seeks qualified instructors for our EKG Certification Prep Integrated Career and Academic Preparations System (ICAPS) Program. The EKG Certification Prep ICAPS program offers students the opportunity to earn an EKG Certification while getting their High School Equivalency. The program is designed to be team-taught by content and basic skills instructors.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with a High School Equivalency/GED Instructor to design curricula, learning outcomes, and assessments for the EKG Certification Prep ICAPS program; Identify learning strategies for students; Plan in conjunction with co-teacher classroom management, attendance policies, and homework and test policies
  • Teaching: Co-teach the EKG Certification Prep ICAPS program which will be tentatively offered three days a week for 10 weeks, 10:00am - 1:30pm starting April 22nd, 2019

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • National Health Career Association (NHA) EKG Certification (Must be obtained before the start of the class).
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience
  • Experience in curriculum development
  • Familiarity or capacity to utilize complimentary/supportive/collaborative teaching model
  • Commitment to and/or understanding and/or experience working with under-resourced students
  • Awareness and knowledge of student learning styles and strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy including the ability to use online tools to supplement teaching and facilitate email access
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and learning of the discipline area
  • Willingness to support the goals of the Continuing Education division and create effective learning environments for diverse populations of students
Preferred Qualifications (from the Minimum Qualifications for Oakton Faculty document)*:
  • Master's degree in the content area
  • 5+ years teaching experience
  • Experience working in a hospital/like setting
  • Experience and/or understanding co-teaching preferred;

Additional Information:

Salary: $40.00 hourly

Oakton Community College requires all employees to adhere to a Vaccination /Testing Mandate and Mask Requirement.

Oakton does not currently have a work form home policy and employees, are required to report to campus.
