Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The Finance Technician position is responsible for completing the following tasks:
•Provides immediate and accurate data and information to the Associate Director, faculty, staff and students regarding all fiscal matters.
•Performs transaction processing including but not limited to: revenue deposits, electronic purchase requisitions, journal vouchers, P card transactions, travel arrangements/reimbursements, personal reimbursements, contract processing, monthly and annual account reconciliations, back-up duties, and special projects.
•Utilizes Banner, RealSource, and other financial systems.
•Provides finance-related customer service and operational support typically to an academic school, department, or business unit. Their work content typically includes more than one functional areas such as accounting, budget, payroll, procurement,
or treasury and may include more long-range assignments such as resource planning and forecasting.
•Manages department and faculty purchase requests; assists with travel arrangements and reports; manages all Banner financial transactions; analyzes expenditures; tracks faculty funding, including grants and contracts; reconciles and maintains transaction records; and serving as Departmental Records Managers.

Finance Technicans may work independently or as a member of a team. They work under general supervision, resolving most standard issues independently while referring complex or unique issues to a higher-level. Finance Technicians typically report to a supervisor or manager or in some areas may report to an administrator. Minimum Hiring Standards
•High school graduate or equivalent.
•Knowledge of generally accepted accounting/bookkeeping procedures and practices.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others both written and orally.
•Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations.
•Excellent customer service skills.
•Demonstrated ability to independently handle a variety of tasks in a high volume and fast paced area.
•Ability to comprehend policies and procedures and guide students and staff.
•Ability to prepare routine reports and to read, follow, and utilize complex financial reports generated by others.
•Ability to analyze complex information and problem solve.
•Ability to be highly productive with minimal errors.
•Skill in utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel.
•Skill in typing, filing, and general office procedures. Preferred Hiring Standards
•College coursework or degree in a business related field.
•Several years of experience in a state/government business environment.
•Knowledge and experience with RealSource and Banner.
