The Missoula College at the University of Montana invites applications for an Administrative Associate III to join our team. The person selected for this position will provide a variety of student services to the Academic Advising Center and the Learning Center at Missoula College as well as providing administrative support for the Director of Student Services.



Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as main point of contact for the Missoula College Academic Advising Center and Learning Center: walk-in individuals, office phone calls, and emails (Academic Advising Center primary email address inbox)
  • Ensure that students are referred appropriately (student services/other departments)
  • May assist students in scheduling of formal advising appointments with the advisors (and screen each student to ensure meeting with appropriate advisor).
  • Aid in preparation for and student management during New Student Orientations
  • Checking student account holds
  • Checking a student’s major and ensuring they are admitted, if new
  • Check math and writing placement scores, and explain/address placement score placements
  • Address registration errors and answer questions, as appropriate
  • Learn UM GERs and MC degree program requirements. May carry a small advising load.
  • Provides basic advising and pre-advising support to students
  • Assist with outreach to new and continuing students
  • Assist with content management for website and database management
  • Manage the Missoula College Learning Center, including the testing and tutoring services, including supervision of any student employees
  • Update website, or train/oversee student employee to manage content
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form
  • Ability to learn various software including web content and database management skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to diverse groups and individuals
Minimum Required Experience
  • High School diploma and three (3) years of progressive work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Working knowledge of UM Policies and Procedures

Position Details

Position Title: Admin Assoc III

Position Number: NEW

Department: Missoula College

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.

Salary: $14.605/hr - Current employee’s rate of pay for this position will be determined by the staff compensation plan and will minimally be this posted salary. For questions and details regarding the staff compensation plan, email the Compensation Department .

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
