The College Laboratory Technician will work under the supervision of the department chair in the health sciences department and will be responsible for the operational coordination of the Veterinary Technology Center (VTC). Duties Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assists with the maintenance, repair and use of equipment including radiological, surgical, anesthetic, environmental, and regulatory/safety equipment;
- Coordinates the preparation of equipment and provide assistance during teaching laboratories
- Assists with the purchasing and inventory of supplies needed for the VTC
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local government regulatory agencies as they relate to the operation of the VTC
- Maintain required records/documentations for VTC
- Coordinate the use of the resource room
- Maintain updated program resources to support instruction; provide reviews and learning reinforcement on program specific essential skills with clinical phase
- Participate in program, department, and college wide committees, as well as support college
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of four years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications
- Current NYS licensed veterinary technician (LVT) and a graduate of an AVMA-accredited program in Veterinary Technology.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a LVT; one year supervisory
- AALAS (LAT/LATg) certification preferred
- Proficient in computer programs: Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, Blackboard, Excel, Cornerstone Practice Management
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; the ability to work as part of a team and cooperate with others for the good of the institution
- Experience with organizational tasks, computerized record keeping, controlled drugs and inventory
- Evidence of continued, appropriate professional development
- Flexible work hours
COMPENSATION
Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.
