The Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time position as Clinical Track (Assistant or Associate) Professor in the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Section. 

 

Qualifications: DVM or equivalent degree. Board certified or board eligible in the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC) or European Veterinary Dental College (EVDC) is necessary. Advanced training in dentistry and oral surgery required.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Clinical Track:

Responsibilities include teaching third year students in the small animal surgery course, the advanced dentistry course, and the dentistry clinical rotation.  Required clinical duties will range between 22-26 weeks.  Development of a research program as well as clinical and research supervision of residents in dentistry and oral surgery is also required. Participation in continuing education programs for practicing veterinarians is also expected.

 

There is currently a 1-week equine dentistry elective course (including clinical laboratory) offered during the third year curriculum. If the appropriate candidate has an equine interest, participation in leading this course would be encouraged.

 

Distribution of time in clinical practice, teaching, research, and service is expected to be in the range of the following, depending on unit needs:

Clinical practice: 40-50%

Non-clinical teaching 20%

Research 20-30%

Service 10%

 

Opportunities for additional formal AVDC training in oromaxillofacial surgery (OMFS) may be available to the appropriate candidate.
