Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Major/Essential Functions

Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President for Rural and Community Health and Director of the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health, the Senior Director of Innovations in Health Information Technology (InHIT) represents our commitment to continual and expanding technology use in the rural community. The Senior Director oversees the TexLa Telehealth Resource Center, Next Gen 911, Clinical Telemedicine Operations, Frontiers in Telemedicine Laboratory and other telehealth projects.

This position interfaces with staff at all levels across the Institute, along with federal, state, and local partners The Senior Director manages a team of six (6) to ten (10) employees who will all work together to accomplish the goals of the division.

This position carries placement on the Management Team for the Institute.

Participate in regional, state, and national initiatives to promote the mission of the Institute.

Monitor program activities and work to ensure they meet or exceed program guidelines.

Build relationships with contract agents, personnel, and stakeholders regarding Institute activities.

Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, develop, and direct staff for the Institute administrative functions.

Provide budgetary oversight and fiscal monitoring of programmatic funds, ensure expenditures are compliant.

Provide activity reports as requested.

Serve as a trusted advisor to the Director of the Institute.

Work with the Institute management team for all collaborative efforts.

Act as a liaison between the Institute and appropriate support departments and stakeholders.

Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree required, master's preferred; Six years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education beyond Bachelor's may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
