Student Affairs at Auburn University is seeking candidates for the position of Counselor, Student in Student Counseling & Psychological Services. The Counselor is responsible for providing counseling and psychological services for students with mental health issues and providing information regarding mental health services and programs.
Essential Functions
Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:
-Providing counseling to students, including individual therapy, group therapy, family consultations, and crisis referral.
-Documenting, reporting, and maintaining confidential records and information from counseling-related services including individual therapy, group therapy, family consultations, and crisis referral.
-Evaluating and developing comprehensive treatment plans for individuals including assessment, diagnosis, coordinating treatment with other professionals, and providing community referrals when indicated.
-Clinically supervising graduate practicum students; may clinically supervise unlicensed senior staff clinicians.
-Planning, developing, and presenting outreach presentations, workshop programs, and educational seminars related to mental health issues and available services to students, staff, faculty, and other campus stakeholders.

Minimum Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Minimum Technology Skills
Minimum License and Certifications
Licensed Professional Counselor ( LPC ), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker ( LICSW ), or licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Alabama is required within 12 months of hire.
Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include: Ph.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA -Accredited Institution; completion of an APA -Accredited Pre-Doctoral Internship; additional years experience in providing counseling and psychological services to a college student population; licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in the State of Alabama.
