The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) invites applications for the position of Carpenter. This position performs skilled, journey-level carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair of building components and structures made of wood and other building materials at a college.
FLAT RATE: $39.45/hour
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF AN APPLICATION:
Education and Experience:
A. Graduation from high school or its equivalent AND completion of a recognized apprentice training program of at least four years’ duration in the carpentry trade AND one year of full-time, paid, journey-level experience in the carpentry trade.
OR
B. Graduation from high school or its equivalent AND five years of full-time, paid experience in carpentry work under the supervision of a journeyman or crafts supervisor. One year of the required experience must have been at the journey-level.
Special:
A valid Class “C” California driver's license may be required for some positions.
Travel to locations throughout the District may be required for some positions.
Special Note:
Prior to employment, all successful candidates will be required to pass an asbestos medical examination in compliance with the General Industry Safety Orders, Section 5208, Title 8 of the California Administrative Codes.

VACANCIES
Vacancies currently exist at Los Angeles City College, 855 N. Vermont Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90029 and East Los Angeles College, 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park, CA 91754. The hiring list established by this examination will be used to fill future vacancies as they occur during the life of the list.
BENEFITS

EXAMINATION
PROCESS
The examination process may consist of one or more parts which
may include a training and experience evaluation, written test,
performance test, and/or oral interview.
ACCOMMODATION

examination process. Documentation of the need for accommodation is
required solely for the purpose of establishing that the applicant
has an ADA disability and that the disability necessitates a
reasonable accommodation. Typically, a recent letter from an
appropriate health care or rehabilitation professional which
establishes that the applicant has an ADA qualifying disability,
identifies the functional limitations as they relate to the testing
situation, and recommends/suggests the appropriate accommodation is
sufficient. In order for appropriate arrangements to be
made at the testing site, a request for accommodation and required
documentation must be received by the Examiner of Record at least 3
days prior to the administration of the test.
