JOB SUMMARY:

 

Under general supervision of the leadership in the College of Education, and in collaboration with University graduate admissions staff, the Assistant Director of Graduate Programs is responsible for the coordination, development, planning, and execution of graduate intake and recruitment activities for the College of Education. The Graduate Studies Assistant Director's primary duties include:

 

  1. Recruitment of master's programs in educational leadership, early childhood/special education, international teaching and learning, early childhood/childhood, literacy instruction, middle childhood/adolescence, special education, and teaching English to speakers of other languages; and advanced certificates in, literacy instruction, educational leadership, special education, and teaching English to speakers of other languages.
  2. Communications including website updates, phone calls, email, and other marketing venues.
  3. Measuring outcomes of recruitment efforts.
  4. Developing new markets and tactics to increase graduate enrollment for the College of Education.

Secondary duties include managing the application workflow and admission process, in collaboration with College of Education faculty and staff.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  • Represent and recruit for Niagara University's College of Education graduate programs at career fairs, graduate fairs, open houses, organizations, agencies, P-12 schools, universities, colleges, virtual events, public events, and Niagara University events;

 

  • Organize and host information sessions, promotional, and recruiting events aimed at recruiting graduate students for College of Education programs;

 

  • Attend networking events hosted by targeted schools, agencies, professional organizations, and non-profits;

 

  • Consult and collaborate with external, alumni, and educational engagement staff to design and implement events for maximum benefit and to increase applications;

 

  • Build relationships with external stakeholders in P-12 schools, non-profits, and higher education institutions, with the objective of ultimately increasing the number of applicants enrolled in College of Education graduate programs;

 

  • Provide accurate, complex, and useful information to prospects, applicants, and constituents in a professional manner about the admissions process, graduate programs, marketing points, university mission, services, and offices;

 

  • Coordinate and schedule on and off-campus recruitment travel using Recruiter, Google Calendar, and AdAstra;

 

  • Manage communications and targeted marketing efforts;

 

  • Manage outbound marketing communications and measure performance on these efforts to meet strategic marketing communication goals;

 

  • Assist with generating enrollment data, analysis, and weekly reports for use by the graduate office, colleges, programs, and senior management;

 

  • Supervise Graduate Studies Office (Academic Complex) support, staff;

 

  • Collaborate with College of Education Program Coordinators for the development and execution of strategies to meet enrollment goals;

 

  • Facilitate academic testing for applicants who have not completed required assessments;

 

 

  • Facilitate orientation sessions for newly admitted candidates;

 

  • Develop marketing materials to promote programs both in print and digitally;

 

  • Maintain mailing lists of existing contacts and relationships;

 

  • Work with external partners and the Career Services Office to develop and foster key relationships that impact recruitment;

 

  • Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: student and employee personal information, student grades, etc.), both during and after their employment and after their employment with the University;

 

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Expertise in personal selling, public speaking, persuasion, and communication, including electronic communications and social media;

 

  • Knowledge of the graduate admissions and financial aid processes and the ability to recruit prospective graduate students.

 

  • Computer literate with knowledge of computer software applications, including Microsoft Office, Outlook and FrontPage; PowerPointExcel, and database management, plus ability to learn new computer software programs;

 

  • Experience working with P-12 schools, agencies, and businesses;

 

  • Demonstrable experience in creating and conducting presentations and established excellent oral and written communications skills.

 

  • Strong interpersonal skills to relate and work with non-traditional students;

 

  • Excellent care and attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;

 

  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team;

 

  • Ability to supervise student employees;

 

  • Willingness and ability to travel outside campus: regionally, nationally, and internationally; and at times with overnight stays, and by varying modes of transportation;

 

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail;

 

  • Ability to perform all essential job functions accurately with minimal direct supervision;

 

  • Ability to display sound judgment to ensure timely processing and completion of assigned tasks.

 

 

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

 

  • Master's degree required; experience in Education or a degree in a related field strongly preferred.

 

  • A minimum of three years' full-time professional experience related to college admission, student recruitment at a regionally accredited two-year or four-year college or university, college/university development, or recruitment at a business.

 

  • Proven customer service experience.

 

  • A valid New York State driver's license is required that satisfies both University and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle. Must also be able to operate a motor vehicle in Canada.
