Position Description Summary: The George Washington School of Nursing seeks qualified applicants for a Biostatistician at the rank of Assistant Professor. This full-time, 12-month non-tenure-track faculty position is scheduled to begin as early as January 1, 2022. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

 Specific Duties and Responsibilities can include but are not limited to:  

  • Provide statistical design expertise, data management, and data analyses to investigators
  • Serve as consultant to doctoral students on data management, development and selection of appropriate statistical methods and tests, and validation of analysis results.
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team of investigators throughout the School of Nursing and University
  • Contribute to technical/scientific writing and reviewing drafts of grants, reports, posters, and manuscripts, including writing up interpretation of analysis results and description of statistical methods used
  • Teach/co-teach biostats and/or related courses as needed

 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Earned doctorate in nursing, statistics, public health, informatics or related field by date of appointment
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of professional health-related research experience
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of teaching experience in an academic setting
  • A strong background in statistical principles and data analysis is required with knowledge of SPSS, SAS/R, and/or Stata
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration skills and multitasking ability to support multiple and concurrent projects
  • Evidence of ability to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts through teaching, research/scholarship and or service
