Summary/Objective

The Program Coordinator provides operational support to the university-wide general education program, the AU Core Curriculum, in the following major areas: 1) facilitating curriculum approval, assessment, and compliance processes, 2) assembling quantitative and qualitative data reports, 3) organizing and planning events, (4) maintaining records and documents, and 4) crafting communications for internal and external audiences. This position collaborates with the Faculty Senate’s AU Core Subcommittee, the University College, the Office of the University Registrar, and the Office of Institutional Research. This position requires coordination with administrative and academic areas of the university to determine needs and priorities, obtain resources, and comply with university, campus, and departmental policies and procedures. This position receives general supervision.

Essential Functions
  1. Program Operations and Logistical Support: Provides administrative support to the Director, AU Core and UC and AU Core Faculty Chair. Facilitates the work of the AU Core Committees, which includes course proposal review, assessment, and faculty development. Develops and monitors processes and procedures for the Program. Maintains AU Core and legacy general education program databases. Manage the Core Leader Program – the peer-assisted learning program for core curriculum courses – including hiring, training, and mentoring of undergraduates selected for these positiaons consistent with the principles and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. Places orders for supplies and materials.
  2. Assessment, Evaluation, and Reporting: Assists with program assessment, including the development and administration of student and faculty surveys, collection and evaluation of course syllabi, assignments, and student work products, and review of curricular offerings. Creates and disseminates quantitative and qualitative data reports on course enrollments, survey responses, and other academic data.
  3. Organizing and Planning Events: Makes arrangements for events and meetings, which might include team meetings, faculty committees, information sessions, faculty development sessions, and student events. Assists the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation, Transition, and Retention with planning for new and prospective student events. Builds and implements a faculty development calendar in partnership with the AU Core Committees and the CTRL Faculty Fellows.
  4. Communications/Marketing Outreach In consultation with the Director of AU Core and University College, assists in marketing for and communicating about the AU Core Curriculum. This work includes drafting, editing, and publishing print and web communications for internal and external audiences. Responsible for the front-line communications of the AU Core including but not limited to, answering phone inquiries, monitoring, and responding to the program e-mail account, supporting general office communications, and maintaining the website and intranet.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • At least two years of relevant work experience are required.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Demonstrated interest in higher education, academic administration, curriculum design, training, and facilitation, or similar.
  • Experience incorporating anti-racist practices in job duties.
  • Seeks out, values, and utilizes diverse knowledge and experiences preferred.
  • Experience working with personal computing software in a networked environment, and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and SharePoint), Colleague, CommonSpot, and AirTable are helpful
