The primary objective of this position is to coordinate program services of Veteran’s Upward Bound and its participants to ensure program outcomes are met. The program coordinator will collaborate with the Veteran’s Upward Bound stakeholders to determine and implement best practices in the office by recruiting and enrolling eligible participants into VUB programming; assessing participant needs, certifying their eligibility; monitoring their academic success plan; progress and assisting their matriculation into college; facilitating communications among participants, VUB staff, and the community .

NOTE : This is a GRANT funded position and is contingent on continual funding from the grant source.

Bachelor’s degree in education, business, counseling or related field required.

Education/experience maybe substituted based on the following equivalencies: AA = 2 years; BA/BS = 4 years; MA/MS = 6 years; PhD = 8 years. Computer Skills Word-Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Web Page Maintenance Experience
Two (2) years of experience in post-secondary education requirements and knowledge of veteran educational benefits required.

Knowledge of First-generation and/or low-income student required. Other Experience Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements of Position: Criminal History check, Driver's license Other Licenses, Certificates, Registrations, & State/Federal Requirements Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge: Attention to detail, Communication skills, including oral, written, and/or nonverbal, Knowledge of a University environment preferred, Human Relations/Interpersonal skills, Leadership skills: organization/meeting facilitation/project leadership, Management and/or administration skills, Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines, Maintain confidentiality Other Special Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
Previous military affiliation – either as an active veteran or a family member – preferred

Ability to successfully build relationships across diverse populations

Irregular work hours – requires some nights and weekends.
