Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Worldwide campus is currently hiring adjunct faculty to teach AWEN 502 – Airworthiness Process and Procedures.

Course Description

Introduction to Airworthiness concepts. Overview of Civil and Military organizational structures in aircraft certification. Roles and Responsibilities of the different types of FAA Representatives. FAA rule-making, advisory process, production rules, certification procedures, Exemptions, and Special Conditions. Types of Airworthiness Approvals: Military Commercial, Military Derivative Aircraft. Roles and Responsibilities of the different Military Aviation Authorities. Military certification procedures, Non- Compliances, civil & military risk acceptance.

Qualifications

Applicant Qualifications

A minimum of a Doctorate degree in discipline is required (please see list of acceptable disciplines below), as well as relevant industry experience from within the last 7 years.

Applicable Professional Certification

FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER), FAA Authorized Representative (AR), or documented military airworthiness authority experience.

Professional Engineer’s License.

Desired Professional Training or Experience

Experience in a government, industry, or academic organization conducting research, development, and applications programs related to Airworthiness Engineering actions and their application to airworthiness certification process. Active membership in professional organizations in engineering, i.e., National Academy of Engineering, National Society of Professional Engineers, discipline-specific professional societies, or other organizations in fields related to Airworthiness Engineering and their application to certification and airworthiness, or related technology. Any formal flight training and ratings acquired either civil or military.
