Position Summary
Athletics Media Relations Coordinator
The Athletics Media Relations Coordinator will work with the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations overseeing all communications and media relations for the UW-La Crosse Intercollegiate Athletics Department with the goal of increasing the awareness of Eagles Athletics.
Responsibilities include but not limited to assisting in-game day statistics; maintaining and update records; managing press table and statistical coverage of home and special events; coordinating daily media relations efforts; result reporting; news releases; feature writing; organizing webcasting of live events; photography, video production and supervising student assistants.
In addition, this position will assist in the layout and production of recruiting/media brochures and game-day programs; assist with assigned projects and marketing, file required reports and information with the NCAA and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference; provide daily content and coverage of UWL Athletics on the department’s web site and social media platforms.
Women’s Lacrosse Coach
The ideal candidate blends athletic excellence, leadership capacity, and the ability to mentor the student-athletes with the development of the student-athlete as the highest priority. This individual will enthusiastically perform the functions of the women’s lacrosse assistant coach, responsible for assisting in the management and administration of the intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse program within the guidelines, rules, and regulations of UWL and the NCAA .
Description of College / Department / Program / Division / Unit
The Division of Student Affairs’ role is to enhance and support students learning experience here at UWL . We work closely with faculty, staff, community members, alumni and most importantly, students to provide quality programs and services which promote learning, leadership, involvement, service, and the celebration of diversity. The Division includes several departments: Campus Child Center, Counseling and Testing, Student Health Center, Intercollegiate Athletics, Recreational Sports, Residence Life, Student Life, University Centers, and the Vice Chancellor & Dean of Students office. The staff of the Division is truly student-centered and concerned about the holistic development of the student.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least four years of playing or coaching in the sport of Women’s Lacrosse at the collegiate level required.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Strong writing skills, including knowledge of AP Style.
- Commitment to student-athlete welfare, academic success, NCAA /University rules.
- In the absence of the Head Coach, is responsible for moderate levels of decision-making regarding supervision of student-athletes, coaching of athletes.
- Valid drivers license or reliable transportation to travel on behalf of the University is required.
- Proven experience with Stat Crew and Genius Sports statistical programs.
- Experience in athletics, public relations and/or related field.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, content management platforms, desktop publishing software and graphic design software.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Bachelor’s degree required (Bachelor’s degree in communications is preferred); Master’s degree preferred.

- Use expert technical knowledge of the sport of Women’s Lacrosse to assist in the development and coaching of a successful program, including the development of high-quality student-athletes.
- Assist in the organization and conduct of all practice sessions, conditioning, and other sport-related workouts.
- Provide coaching to the student-athletes during the conduct of all home and away competitions.
- Provide supervision and support to the student-athletes during travel to away events.
- Assist in the provision of a leadership/mentor role among student-athletes, assistant coaches, and other support staff while promoting sportsmanship and responsible behavior both during and outside of athletic competition.
- Work closely with the athletic training staff to ensure the health and safety of student-athletes.
- Encourage and promote excellence in academics from student-athletes, in collaboration with various academic support services.
- Responsible for the coaching and development of the student workers.
- Assist in the effort to recruit quality student-athletes from geographically and demographically diverse populations.
- Travel to evaluate prospective student-athletes.
- Assist in the provision of all correspondence with prospective student-athletes, coaches, and parents.
- Participate in the making of travel arrangements, including transportation, lodging, and meals.
- Assist the Head Coach in the performance of public relations and fundraising duties as needed.
- Assist in ensuring program compliance with all NCAA, and University rules, including completion of required Compliance documentation and timely reporting of all known violations to the Director of Athletics or Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.
