Mission or Goal of Unit
The mission of the Department of Neurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patient-centered neurological care for adults and children, perform translational and clinical research to further understanding of disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists. The Department of Neurology is seeking a full-time clinical faculty member with a clinical background with epilepsy program leadership experience to serve as the Epilepsy Program Manager and establish an independent research program focused on epilepsy health-related outcomes. This clinical position will provide patent care, engage in team and community education as well as participate in clinical research. This position will see patients with neurological disorders in the outpatient setting. Position Responsibilities
1. Clinical
Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients/families with complex epilepsy across the lifespan.

2. Teaching
The faculty member will teach learners, staff, and physicians regarding the epilepsy program, its goals, and their role in the quality patient outcome while providing training/education of epilepsy nursing-related care. The faculty member will also provide community education.

3. Research
The Division of Adult Neurology is engaged in clinical and translation research projects. The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research, and clinical trials.

4. Service
The faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.

5. Other (for instance administrative duties, etc.)
The faculty member will oversee the development and maintenance of epilepsy databases as well as leading the development and implementation of program processes, procedures, and services related to the VCU NAEC Level 4 Epilepsy Center. Required Qualifications
· Master Degree in Nursing from an accredited program

· National certification reflective of a graduate curriculum

· Virginia licensure from appropriate Board as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Nurse Midwife, or Nurse Anesthetist

· Advanced nursing clinical experience in the clinical care of complex epilepsy patients (ex. APRN, NP)

· Experience with clinical research (ex. Masters, Ph.D.)

· Minimum of five (5) years of relevant clinical experience

· Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive leadership experience Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in academic health center environment

· Experience in administrative and/or leadership training and development

· NP or PA skills and licensure or DNP /Ph.D. from an accredited program
