The Lewis & Clark College Department of Music invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty for Applied Lessons in Jazz Bass, to begin Fall 2021. Responsibilities will include teaching private lessons on both acoustic and electric bass for a studio that typically ranges between 3-5 students; jazz bass recruiting; and participating in juries of jazz bass students. Music adjunct faculty members are paid on a fee-for-service (hourly) basis; the position does not carry benefits, but adjunct faculty have access to Lewis & Clark’s campus and faculty privileges. Adjunct Faculty are expected to be responsible and responsive members of the music department. Additional stipends are available for adjunct faculty who choose to perform in faculty ensembles, offer sample lessons to prospective students, coach orchestra sectionals, adjudicate juries, and prepare students for degree recitals.

QualificationsThe successful applicant will have an active performing career and have substantial experience in teaching both acoustic and electric jazz bass. Bachelor’s Degree required, Master of Music or Master of Arts preferred.
