Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Murray State University is seeking qualified applicants for a 9-month assistant professor (preferred) position or instructor in the School of Nursing and Health Professions.
Instructional responsibilities will support the undergraduate degree in exercise science. The successful candidate should possess strengths in the following areas including but not limited to: Exercise Physiology, Exercise Physiology Lab, Scholarly Writing in the Health Sciences, Exercise Instruction, and Exercise Testing Lab. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to innovative, high-quality classroom instruction to include a commitment to active learning and the use of technology to promote excellence in learning. The Exercise Science program emphasizes critical thinking, written communication skills, and the application of theory and research for evidence-based practice.
A commitment to academic advising, engaging in scholarly activity and research, and providing service to the program, department, college, university, and community is expected. Additionally, the faculty member will assist the program with advising, curricular development, accreditation reporting, marketing, and recruitment.
Minimum Education Requirements:
A candidate with a Doctorate degree in Exercise Physiology or closely related discipline with a background in applied exercise physiology is preferred. A Master's degree in Exercise Physiology or closely related discipline with experience in applied exercise physiology is required for the rank of Instructor.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
Strong communication skills and demonstrated collaborative abilities. An American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) certification as an exercise physiologist or clinical exercise physiologist, or other related national certification. Commitment to involvement in professional organizations. Expertise in working with diverse clinical populations
Note: If the successful candidate is master's prepared, the position will be filled as a non-tenure track, instructor. If the successful candidate holds a terminal degree, the position will be filled as a tenure-track, assistant professor.
