The Johns Hopkins Lupus Center in the Division of Rheumatology, Department of Medicine seeks aSenior Biostatistician to collaborate with investigators on research projects.Primary responsibilities include analysis and presentation of project data. This role works with minimal direction from investigators to design, implement and manage computerized systems for analysis of complex research projects, and to prepare scientific presentations related to studies on biomarkers for lupus and lupus nephritis.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare and write detailed
analysis plans and specifications for grants, analyses, &
papers for publication. Design tables and statistical procedures
for specific research studies.
Write
statistical computer programs and reviews
output for consistency and
quality.
Analyze data and prepares
tables for interim and final reports.
Collaborate
withinvestigators to develop
objectives, designing, sampling,
randomization, and data collection procedures to achieve study
objectives.
Develop
andapplynewstatisticalmethodologies.
Prepare
analyseswithgeneraldirectionfrom
investigators.
Make
significantcontributionof conclusive thought
topublications.
Write
statisticaldesign,methods, and analysis for research
proposals.
Assumesignificantroleon
research project team, e.g. serves
oncommittees,supervises project personnel, coordinate
q/c efforts.
May function in a central
data center for a large department,school,
orunit.
Independent, substantive
contact with other internal and
externalinvestigators or study
staff.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
-
Proficiency with a
statistical analysis platform such as R, STATA, or
SAS.
- Proficiency in the goals, standards, policies and procedures and protocols of the research study, and is sensitive to the interrelationship of study participants, staff and research investigators; knows the policies and procedures of the University’s research administration in relation to Human Subjects Research and IRB guidelines. Experience in statistical analysis, database management & data analysis including longitudinal analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating and managing databases in MS Access, MS SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle RDMS.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of Visual Basic.
- Knowledge of SQL.
Technical Qualifications/Specialized Certifications:
- Master’s degree in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, or a related scientific field.
- Strong quantitative skills and applied data analysis experience preferred.
- Three (3) years related experience required.
- Demonstrated ability on a significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU Equivalency Formula.
Physical Requirements:
- Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.
- Handling by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with the hand or hands, but without finger dexterity.
- Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time.
- Ability to move about.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- May oversee and coordinate the work of the study staff.
