The Department of Literature in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for part-time faculty to teach courses that fulfill the AU Core first-year writing requirement: WRT 100 or WRT 101. The classes will have up to 19 students enrolled. Sections will meet face-to-face for 75 minutes on Tuesdays and Fridays or Mondays and Thursdays. Spring 2022 classes begin January 10th, and continue for the entire Spring semester. Academic Calendar details can be found here:

Applicants should hold an MA or PhD in English or Rhetoric and Composition, an MFA in Creative Writing, or a master’s degree or PhD in a related field, and a demonstrated capacity for teaching. Applicants must meet requirements to receive and maintain an adjunct teaching appointment at American University.
