Assistant Research Officer in the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine (Ref: 507909), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D degree or equivalent with postdoctoral experience in life sciences disciplines such as biotechnology, biochemistry and medical laboratory science, with at least 3 years’ laboratory experience. They should possess skills in biochemical or molecular/cellular biology, such as cell-based assay, enzymatic assay, flow cytometry, PCR assays, aseptic and cell cultures techniques, and operating basic lab instruments. A good command of spoken and written English, strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills as well as a high degree of self-motivation are required. Those with experience in human ES or iPS cell culture techniques will have an advantage.

The appointee will participate in a human iPS cell haplobank project focusing on GMP grade iPS cell reprogramming, stem cell culture, and differentiation; and also take part in the research and development of cell culture models. He/She is expected to lead the planning, design, development, and implementation of scientific production, validation, and testing of GMP grade iPSCs as cell and gene therapy products as well as participate in other quality-related activities. He/She is also expected to manage the laboratory and provide guidance and supervision to junior staff in the team.
