Director of Enrollment Access and Inclusion

Primary Purpose:
The mission of Strategic Enrollment is to recruit alumni. Our purpose is to recruit and enroll students who are most likely to persist, graduate and attain satisfying career goals. The division's goals are to optimize net tuition revenue, and increase enrollments, retention, and graduate rates.

The director of enrollment access and inclusion will work closely with the vice president for strategic enrollment and the division's leadership team, and other divisions and departments at the University to successfully build a culture of inclusion throughout the recruitment process and within the division, which includes enrollment marketing, financial aid, enrollment operations, and undergraduate and graduate admission. In this role, the director will be responsible for defining the vision, setting the priorities, inspiring the strategic enrollment teams, and implementing best-practices for successfully recruiting, enrolling and supporting access and inclusion priorities. The director of enrollment access and inclusion is an active member of the Office of Strategic Enrollment's leadership team and expected to be the primary contributor of enrollment access and inclusion expertise and application. The director will be active in professional and community-based organizations affiliated with diversity, equity and inclusion admission efforts, representing University of the Pacific and the Office of Strategic Enrollment at the regional, state, and national level.

Essential Functions:
  1. Implement University of the Pacific’s strategic enrollment plans for access and inclusion, focused on the marketing, recruitment and retention of Latin X-identified students.
  2. With the vice president for strategic enrollment, set short- and long-term undergraduate, graduate and financial aid strategies for historically underrepresented student at University of the Pacific.
  3. With the dean of undergraduate admission, develop and implement a community-based organization strategy.
  4. Advise undergraduate and graduate admission counselors on the development of travel recruitment plans to include access and inclusion efforts and identification of new geographic markets that strengthen the overall diversity of the admission pipeline.
  5. Collaborate with all academic units to support the planning and attainment of college-, school-, and program-level enrollment diversity goals.
  6. Develop and implement access and inclusion programming for on-campus recruitment initiatives, such as campus visits, open houses and yield events.
  7. Collaborate with the University’s vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion to lead and commission research surrounding access and inclusion efforts for college-bound students and their families, along with competitive institutions, to secure information that can be utilized to enhance and evolve the University, garner insights about prospective students and retention efforts.
  8. Collaborate with the enrollment marketing team to ensure all recruitment publications and websites dedicated to diversity recruitment are up-to-date, relevant, and innovative.
  9. Collaborate with the University’s vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion to provide oversight of the recruitment and training of strategic enrollment staff members and student workers regarding diverse populations.
  10. Participate in admission and financial aid committee meetings to finalize admitted students from Early Action and Regular Decision pools.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the vice president for strategic enrollment.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of enrollment/recruitment related experience, preferably in a higher education setting with a demonstrated ability to recruit diverse student populations including African American/Black, Latino/Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, Native American, Alaskan Native, and Multiracially identified populations and other areas of identified diversity.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree.
  • Clear competency of diversity and its values as it relates to higher education recruitment.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communicator—write and create presentations, and influence people both inside and outside of the Office of Strategic Enrollment to drive quality execution of enrollment access and inclusion plans.
  • Ability to meet and work well with the public and to represent the University with understanding, professionalism, confidence, and knowledge.
  • High level knowledge of regional, national and international market demographics, demands, and trends to inform enrollment strategies.
  • Experience with CRM and SIS technology, ideally with Slate and Ellucian Banner.
  • Desire to make immediate contributions to an ambitious, forward thinking and quickly moving culture.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and inspire peers and colleagues and be a part of a talented and hardworking team.
  • Exude positivity in a professional setting.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during standard business hours.

Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
