Institutional Advancement is seeking an Assistant Director for Donor Relations. This role works to build-out the university's comprehensive donor recognition, acknowledgment, stewardship and engagement processes that can be measured and tracked to increase donor retention. Collaborates with the Senior and Director of Donor Relations and Associate Vice President of Strategic Engagement to direct and execute the administration of gift acceptance and management, yearly donor stewardship reports, donor acknowledgments, donor recognition orders and installation, and the execution of donor stewardship events. This role directs and reinforces meaningful connections to the university by expressing appreciation to all donors. Travels to various donor events as required. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
| Knowledge |
  • Knowledge of best practices for donor relations, particularly with donor acknowledgments, stewardships, and donor engagement related to higher learning.
  • Knowledge of public fundraising practices, methods, and legal guidelines.
  • Knowledge of analyzing and understanding data.
  • Knowledge of maintaining and following a budget. Knowledge of university policies and procedures.


| Skills |
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly with Excel is a must.
  • Strong skill with working in databases.
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills with particular emphasis on donor appreciation.
  • Preference given to those with knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge.
| Abilities |
  • Ability to pay acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively create, compose, and edit written materials and correspondence.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate major projects all the way to completion.
  • Ability to manage records and databases.
  • Ability to work well in groups within large organizations with diverse constituencies, rapidly changing priorities and tight deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related field plus two to three years of experience directly related to the Summary of Duties OR any combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling five years.

Physical Requirements:
This position performs work in a standard office setting.

Pay Range: $43,400 - $54,250 annually DOE
