Scope of Job:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has an opportunity for a motivated professional to be employed in a hybrid position that involves both clinical supervision of our graduate students during their in-house practicum experiences (50% workload) and direct provision of clinical services to clients from the Rio Grande Valley region (50% workload). The ideal candidate should have experience evaluating and treating individuals across the lifespan exhibiting communication and swallowing disorders; supervision training; and an entrepreneurial spirit to carry a caseload of his or her own client base. As this position evolves to the specific needs of the Speech and Hearing Center, there may be opportunities to not only work with colleagues within the discipline, but with members of the School of Medicine as well. Having experience in medical speech-language pathology (e.g., aphasia, dysphagia, and voice disorders) would strengthen the candidate's application for this position but is not required. Employment commencement date is negotiable. Minimum Qualifications:
Professional doctorate (SLP.D.) or master’s degree in communication sciences and disorders or speech-language pathology; CCC-SLP; eligibility for Texas state license.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
Candidate must have at least 5 years of experience working with patients across the lifespan exhibiting a wide variety of disorders of communication.

Preferred Qualification:
Experience working in a wide range of speech, language, and swallowing disorders across the age spectrum. A candidate having practice in medical settings, schools, and a supervision background will be highly considered for the position.

Additional Information:
UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.

demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based
test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a satisfactory test score of 6.0 on the
