Job Description

Reporting to the Director of University Scholarships, Assistant Director of University Scholarships and Financial Aid is responsible for the financial management and reconciliation of general (USFA-administered) scholarships; provides primary comprehensive administration responsibility of specific institutional scholarship programs; assists with the administration of other departmental and general scholarships and outside scholarship processes; and, is a liaison with specific colleges and departments to support USFA scholarship goals. This position serves as a member of the Supervisor team, assisting with the development and implementation of the short- and long-term goals of University Scholarships and Financial Aid. These processes include, but are not limited to: outreach to high schools and other groups regarding the availability of financial aid and scholarships; ensuring departmental and general scholarships are awarded; accounted for; and, reconciled in a timely and accurate manner; and, ensuring all scholarship daily processing and strategic long-term goals are met. Supervises a Financial Aid Specialist(s) and/or Advisor(s). Analyzes data; researches best practices; provides recommendations for assigned programs to the Associate Director and Director. Counsels students and parents through the financial aid process. Assists, as needed, in all aspects of financial aid processing. Provides recommendations on scholarship packaging of scholarship programs for which the position is responsible.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in higher education, business, or a related field or a Bachelor's degree in higher education, business, or related field with training and or experience which may equate to an advanced degree. Strong commitment to student service and program compliance. Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities. Commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic environment that strives to provide exceptional customer service. Ability to perform independently and as a part of multiple teams. Demonstrates effective problem-solving; strong organizational skills; and, strong communication and interpersonal skills; must read, comprehend, and interpret statute, regulations, and institutional policies and procedure. Demonstrates sound decision-making skills; intermediate working knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to work cooperatively with a wide range of constituents and conduct professional outreach events-- both on- and off-campus. Effectively collects and analyzes data, draw conclusions, and assist in developing recommendations. Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated Federal Student Aid, scholarship, and supervisory experience. Master's degree in higher education, business, or a related field.
