Under the direction of the Head of Digital Stewardship and the Digital Library Program, this position maintains digital content in the Libraries’ various digital repositories, including but not limited to SURFACE (the Institutional Repository) and the Libraries’ digital collections system.

The incumbent’s provides broad support to the Digital Library Program, primarily through assistance in processing/ingesting files and the application of appropriate metadata. This work is accomplished through batch processes and single-item ingests. The position also helps maintain repository data and structures as assigned, as well as collection-level metadata and associated project information. This position may also perform metadata remediation as needed and accessibility remediation as requested.

  • Two years experience in libraries or similar organizational setting, or exceptional background
  • Basic familiarity with open access, institutional repositories, project management, and metadata practices
  • Bachelor’s degree
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Knowledge of metadata standards (ideally MARC, Dublin Core, etc.)
  • Experience with open access publishing and/or institutional repository platforms or digital libraries
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills
  • Data entry experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience working in a team-based environment
Responsibilities
Metadata & Repositories Services
  • Uploads submissions and collections in the institutional repository ( SURFACE ) and the Libraries’ digital collections management system, according to established guidelines and best practices and in accordance with priorities developed by the SURFACE team and the Digital Library Program.
  • Assigns relevant metadata and performs quality assurance measures for a variety of digital objects and collections.
  • Assists in digital collection/project management and workflow documentation as appropriate.




Committees/Teams
  • Participate in SURFACE team meetings and project meetings for digital library services.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.


Professional Development
  • Keep current in evolving practices and tools related to repository and metadata management and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
