Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder student conduct and conflict resolution processes are based in a developmental and progressive response to student conduct violations, including academic integrity violations. These processes are aimed at helping students acknowledge responsibility for their actions and assist them in learning behaviors which will help them be successful CU community members. Coordinators are responsible for assessing alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct and Honor Code and determining appropriate actions. This 12-month position serves primarily as an administrative case manager and facilitator for student conduct and conflict resolution processes. This position has a high amount of student contact.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Administration:
  • Coordinate centralized case management process for student conduct and Honor Code cases in collaboration with SCCR leadership. This includes reviewing all incident reports submitted to SCCR, creating cases, assigning cases to hearing officers in SCCR and Residence Life, and running reports to support efficient case turnaround.
  • Coordinate administrative process for Honor Code Advisory Board case review meetings.
  • Support case management processes for restorative justice and conflict resolution.
  • Complete accurate and timely data entry for data collected from collaborative intervention programs that impact case resolution. These programs may include, but are not limited to, Dean of Students community dialogues and the Off Campus Housing and Neighborhood Relations Ambassador program.
  • Maintain files on all assigned cases, track sanctions and investigations as necessary. Provide follow-up contact with students as needed.
  • Provide support and feedback for the development of student behavior programs for conduct matters.
  • Oversee designated programs and special projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Hearing Officer:
  • Adjudicate alleged academic and nonacademic violations of the Student Code of Conduct or Honor Code.
  • Facilitate restorative justice and conflict resolution processes.
  • Adhere to code of conduct due process standards which must follow Colorado State Statutes and federal laws including, but not limited to, FERPA.
  • Apply effective sanctions that emphasize education, student development, and responsible behavior. Initiate referrals when appropriate to resources/departments on campus.
  • Monitor student progress in required activities and sanctions, and exercise discretion with the timeline in which activities sanctions must be completed.

Leadership and Teamwork:
  • Provide exceptional leadership for all professional, classified, and student staff in SCCR and the conduct area for the Office of Residence Life.
  • Manage student staff or graduate assistant staff as needed.
  • Participate on committees within student affairs and the university.
  • Provide support in the development and advancing of the department’s philosophy, mission, and programs.

What We Require
  • Master's Degree in higher education administration, conflict resolution, alternative dispute resolution, or a related field equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • 2 year of professional experience working one on one with students on a college campus.
    • Professional experience includes full-time employment, and graduate internships and assistantships.
    • Each graduate internship and assistantship is considered .5 years full-time employment.

What We Would Like You To Have
  • Experience working with Maxient.
  • Full time, professional experience adjudicating student cases, academic or non-academic, in a university setting.
  • Experience volunteering or working with a restorative justice program, or specialized training within restorative justice.
  • Experience volunteering or working with, or specialized training in conflict resolution practices.
  • Support of assessment and evaluation practices in student affairs.
  • Experience supervising, hiring, and evaluating student staff or graduate assistant staff.
