Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus is now accepting applications for the Director, Special Projects, and Strategic Communications position. The Director supports the public profile of the President, advances the initiatives of the Office of the President, provides recommendations on policy and crisis response, and helps manage media relations for the Office of the College President. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Produces communications (print, digital and social media) for the College President that are aligned with the mission of the College and effectively target internal audiences including students, faculty, staff, parents, Board of Trustees, and alumni as well as external stakeholders including government, corporate, cultural, academic, and philanthropic leaders, and professional associations

Draft’s speeches, opinion pieces, public letters, speeches, and other communications that extend the President's message

Uses digital analytics and other measures to monitor impact and goal attainment

Collaborates with the Office of Communications, college leadership, and other stakeholders to effectively coordinate communication and key messages to internal and external audiences

Research’s, coordinates data and drafts President’s reports for regular meetings of the Board of Trustees

Writes talking points and drafts presentations for the Board chairman, trustees and others as needed

Provides editorial support to academic and administrative units and external constituencies to ensure consistent standards for President’s messages in remarks, letters, press releases, and official statements as needed

Assists the VP External Affairs and Chief of Staff in the coordination of various functions and projects that relate directly to the office, such as the annual District Employee Service Awards Ceremony and Executive Leadership retreats.

Handles correspondence for the President with key audiences

Addresses student issues when they are elevated to the Office of the College President

Requirements:

Master’s degree, in Journalism, Public Administration, Communications, or Business Administration, with a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience; or bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years of experience.  Experience should include a record of success in broad-based communications program operations, including evidence of strong management and planning capabilities with public, government, or corporate institutions.
