Center for Urban Ecology and Sustainability (CUES) Part-time Administrative Specialist
We are seeking an individual who is passionate about social justice, environment, and education to support our organization in partnering with the Butler and Indianapolis communities to establish best practices for a more sustainable society. The Center for Urban Ecology and Sustainability (CUES) is an academic center at Butler University dedicated to the science and practice of urban ecology and sustainability. The CUES strives to connect students, faculty, and community in a common effort to research, educate, and empower Butler faculty, staff, and students and community partners in the research and establishment of best practices in urban ecology and sustainability that benefit society, the environment, and the economy.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of the CUES, this position will work up to 12 hours per week. Primary responsibilities include financial processing, monthly audits and account reconciliations, program tracking, social media assistance, and daily customer service to the CUES. The CUES will support the successful applicant in gaining professional skills to further their personal career portfolio.
Job Responsibilities
T his position is responsible for assisting with CUES administrative duties including :
- Processing requests for payments
- Processing purchasing requests and reimbursements
- Generating and submitting invoices for CUES activities
- Processing CUES student hiring requests
- Tracking student progress in current and future curricular
programs including the Applied Local Food Systems minor and
concentration, Green Grad program (future), and Sustainability
Requirement (future)
- Maintaining a system for record-keeping
- Assisting with the planning and coordination of events
including student intern events, farm events, and other
center-related activities
- Coordinating food for events and meetings
- Updating webpages
- Assisting with intern recruitment
- Processing internship evaluations
In addition to the aforementioned administrative duties, this position provides support for the social media marketing of the CUES and The Farm at Butler on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. This includes:
- Reviewing social media content of student interns in academic
year
- Research and development of content for social media pages
during summer
- Professional development in social media content development
and management
Qualifications
- High school diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree in any field
preferred.
- Mature and professional demeanor with a strong work
ethic.
- Capacity to be detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently and find resources needed to
complete tasks.
- Friendly, outgoing demeanor.
- Ability to create and build positive relationships with a wide
variety of people and to invite and incorporate feedback.
- Ability to organize and maintain records.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize and manage job
responsibilities.
- Willingness to work within an academic unit with a mission to
serve students.
- Adaptability and flexibility.
