The Division of Science of the City College of New York seeks an Executive Director of The Postbaccalaureate Certificate Program for Health Professions Preparation. The Executive Director will be a mentor, advisor and confidante who guides each student in the program along every step of their educational and health professions admission process. The Executive Director should arrive with experience in pre-health advising at the undergraduate or post-baccalaureate level, be intimately familiar with the application process for medical schools, and have an existing, but growing network of clinical placement settings in the New York City area and beyond for the program’s students.  The Executive Director is also expected to lead in the development of robust and powerful recommendation letters for medical school applications. The Executive Director will also be expected to recruit and select students for the program, assist with placing students in volunteer and research experience positions, generate program statistics and track certificate earners beyond the program.

Extra-curricular activities, i.e., volunteer assistance to medical staff in a health care institution that places them in direct contact with health patients, are essential in evaluating the capacity of the student for empathy and caring towards unknown individuals, as well as their capacity for leadership and the ability to work as part of a team. Placement in reputed institutions that provide meaningful experiences to the pre-health students are usually obtained through the network of the Executive Director.
