Job Summary

The Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs (EMSA) is embarking on a purposeful process of cultivating a student-ready campus community that creates a sense of belonging. With an attentiveness to the development of the entire student journey — from admissions through alumni — this newly created position will be part of a larger university-wide framework that champions the strategic planning necessary to enhance the long-term growth and sustainability of diverse students at PNW. Under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Students Affairs, the Director of Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Initiatives will participate in strategic planning and institutional capacity building necessary to enhance long-term growth as the university progresses toward its goal of achieving status as a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) as Hispanic-Serving Institution.

Core Competencies

Ability to conceptualize, plan, & bring to fruition major initiatives supported by diverse campus & community stakeholders; lead & facilitate collaborative work across university divisions, departments, academic programs, & diverse communities; prioritize & execute a wide range of projects simultaneously & produce various reports for key university & community constituency groups; Knowledge of Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) best practices & funding opportunities(Title V, etc.) for HSIs; barriers that limit participation in higher education for Latino/a/x, underrepresented & underserved students; Experience interacting with representatives of federal & state funding agencies; building collaborative partnerships with a broad range of organizations (public agencies, K-12, non-profits, community, business, governmental & national).  


Preferred competencies:  

  • Proficient/fluent Spanish-speaking and writing abilities
  • Knowledgeable fiscal manager with the ability to effectively prioritize resources
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff and collaborate with teams 
Education

Master’s degree in Education, Public Administration or related field

Experience

5+ years of experience in public higher education administration and experience in the development and administration of complex cross-institutional, community, and federally funded projects; experience working with Latino/a/x populations; developing and managing complex project budgets; evaluating project level activities & making recommendations for continuous improvement of student success initiatives.
 

Preferred experience:

  • Experience with grant writing and/or securing external funding
