A successful candidate will play an active role in FMU's existing academic and operational success. A Career Readiness Coordinator provides leadership for the coordination and development of partnerships at the local and national levels to cultivate business and educational opportunities for Florida Memorial University; promote service learning and civic responsibility among the student body; develop programs to promote academic excellence and economic development to address community needs and challenges.

Essential Functions:

  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to create innovative opportunities to foster student’s growth and development.
  • Serve as Grant Manager for the iROAR program, funded by the UNCF Career Pathways Initiative grant.
  • Provide students with opportunities to develop the skills and competencies essential for success in the global workforce.
  • Create opportunities for the pursuit of academic excellence among students, including the promotion of fellowship and research opportunities, and the promotion of graduate education.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with business and community partners to create opportunities for internships and gainful employment.
  • Promote students by providing guidance and academic support.
  • Expose students to industry and co-curricular experiences which are designed to help them to establish an intentional career path to graduation and beyond.
  • Provide students with industry exposure, internships, experiential learning, and co-curricular experiences.
  • Monitor market trends and update relevant community program information and market data.
  • Coordinate the deployment of software related to career pathways and internships.
  • Assist students with creating comprehensive career pathways that include information and experiences needed to make sound academic decisions.
  • Participate in institutional professional development and training.
  • Display behavior consistent with professional ethics and FMU faculty and staff handbook.
  • Performs other duties as required or directed.
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that logically relate to the position.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of advanced features in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Teams, and other technological systems.
  • Ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills; highly organized and able to lead effective meetings.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information, protect the assets of the institution, act ethically and with integrity, and adhere to FMU’s Code of Conduct and policies and procedures.
  • Effective analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
  • Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
  • Manage, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication or related field and five (5) years of work-related experience or a Master’s degree with three (3) years of related work experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in Career Development in higher education or similar industry.
  • Experience working in corporate environments is desired.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures. Familiar with Jenzabar technology suite for higher education.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
  • Pre-Employment screening is required: criminal background check and drug testing.
