Length of Assignment
Identify, engage, and successfully solicit alumni and friends for
the purposes of securing major gifts for the extraordinarily
special Ball State University College of Fine Arts; plan and
implement ongoing major gift activities on behalf of the university
in order to increase the number and size of private gifts.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
At least three years of work experience in a related
Willingness and ability to travel; possess and maintain a valid
driver’s license and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet
policy; ability to work as part of an organization without direct
daily supervision; outstanding oral, written, and listening
communication skills are necessary in order to articulate
institutional and college viewpoints, goals, priorities, and

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be

Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Prior fundraising experience in higher education or non-profit
Strong organizational management and interpersonal skills together
with self-motivation, personal accountability, and ability to
motivate others, including staff, faculty and volunteers; ability
to work as a team member within a complex institution; knowledge of
or experience in an educational setting.

Duties & Responsibilities
Provide development leadership by identifying, engaging and
successfully soliciting individual donors for major gifts towards
annually determined fundraising and solicitation goal.
Working with supervisor and dean, develop solicitation strategies
for major gifts by conducting research, identifying and
prioritizing top prospective donors, creating plans for engaging
donors with the university and college, and establishing
philanthropic relationships which lead to securing major
Responsible for conducting a minimum of 150 meaningful contacts
annually with our prospects.
Provide support and management for the major gifts program at the
College of Fine Arts; includes exercising independent judgment and
initiative in creating comprehensive major gift strategies which
are aligned with the fundraising priorities of the
Develop and deliver solicitation proposals to articulate College
priorities and secure private philanthropic gifts for the
