Chief Objective of Position
This position will focus on fundraising for the arts programs: Ferguson Center for the Arts, Mary M. Torggler Fine Arts Center, Music Department (Friends of Music), Theatre and Dance Department (Theatre Guild) and Department of Fine Art and Art History.
Work Tasks
Serve as the “concierge” for Ferguson Center and Mary M. Torggler Center major donors by managing and coordinating all benefits and special needs and handling records/requests. Ensure they receive superb customer service (tickets, subscriptions, valet, receptions/intermissions, meet & greets, announcements, marketing communications, and performance reminders). Primary host for performances at the Ferguson Center and Torggler Center in VIPS areas, greeting donors, responding to requests and addressing any challenges that arise. Serve as the “on site” link and customer service liaison between the Ferguson Center and University Advancement, reporting to Senior Director of Advancement for the Arts.
Weekly updates to Advancement, FCA and Administrative
leaders regarding VIPS at shows, then report who actually
came to the show and/or intermission. Coordinate catering and valet
for VIP intermissions. Assist with filling the
President’s Box.
Manage Partner in the Arts program for the Ferguson Center: monthly
renewals, solicit new donors, stewardship, all communications and
events.
Manage Patron of the Art for the Torggler: monthly renewals, solicit news donors and ensure benefits are fulfilled. This includes writing appeals, meeting with donors and developing new, creative ways broaden the donor base.
Assist with managing over 1,000 corporate and individual donors. This includes a consolidated program of identification/discovery, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gifts prospects, annual and corporate giving for all arts associated with CNU including Ferguson Center for the Arts, Mary M. Torggler Center, Friends of Music and Theatre Guild.
Prepare fundraising appeals and sponsorship proposals. Solicit donors and sponsors in coordination with the Senior Director. Coordinate fundraising events. Work with volunteers to reach fundraising goals (including in-kind support). Produce monthly development reports. Maintain all mailing lists and databases for the arts.
This position is designated as a “responsible employee” who has the

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) required
Must be creative, innovative and independent.
Must have a proven commitment to excellent customer service and
experience in fundraising.
Must have excellent oral and written communication and
interpersonal skills.
Must be detail oriented with excellent computer skills; such as,
database entry and management, word processing and spreadsheet, and
designing email communications.
Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including late nights
and weekends depending on event schedule and related
deadlines.
Must be able to manage and work effectively with people; coordinate
multiple tasks simultaneously; solve problems and make
decisions.
Must have good public relations and organizational
skills.
Knowledge of event planning.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) preferred
Knowledge of MailChimp, iModules, Banner and ticketing system
software.
Knowledge of the arts.
Knowledge of giving in Hampton Roads.
Working knowledge of social media management.
Required Education
Master’s degree in business, marketing, or public relations from
an accredited institution of higher education or a Bachelor’s
degree and experience that equates to an advanced degree.
Preferred Education
Experience Required
Must have proven experience and success in non-profit fundraising environments including individual and corporate giving. Demonstrated experience with databases, email communication platform, spreadsheets or word processing software. Experience with event planning.
Experience Preferred
Experience with leading and developing fundraising campaigns.
