Provides a variety of administrative support duties in relation to the Office for Veteran Success ( OVS ). Assists in coordinating and planning activities with various programs and services to support veterans and their family members on campus and throughout the community. Minimum Education/Training/Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of general clerical or office support experience. Preferred Education/Training/Experience
An Associate’s Degree in a related field and at least 3 years of administrative experience or office support experience. Minimum Knowledge & Skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Software: word-processing, database management, spreadsheet and/or presentation software

Performs reception duties including greeting visitors, providing and accepting paperwork; providing general assistance to veterans and their eligible dependents, both in person and on the telephone; explain requirements, regulations and restrictions related to VA benefits and programs.
Communicates projects and /or program information to internal and external customers (e-mail, phone, direct mail and/or social media outlets).
Assists OVS staff in recruiting efforts of potential students through campus and community events. Provides information regarding VA and Texas Veterans Commission Educational Benefits and eligibility, and other available resources.
Assists students with admission and registration processes in utilizing self- service modules. Assists with application processes for VA and Texas Veteran Commission Benefits, financial aid and scholarships.
Explains general college and VA policies and procedures. Assists School Certifying Official with data entry for VA educational benefits and reporting satisfactory academic progress to the VA as needed.
Handles confidential information with tact, discretion and in compliance with College of the Mainland, Veterans Administration and Texas Veterans Commissions regulations.
Arranges travel for staff by preparing paperwork, making travel reservations and making lodging and/or meal arrangements.
Assist the Veteran Academic Advisor by verifying receipt of academic / military transcripts.
Prepares, updates and maintains computerized records related to various aid programs; enters and revises data using specialized software programs. Maintains various records, files, logs and lists; enters data in computer and files paperwork as needed.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned. Physical Requirements
Position in this class typically require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Minimum Salary Range $31,685 Mid Point Salary Range .
