Schedule Information: Monday through Friday with some evening and weekend responsibilities.

Hours per Week: 37.5

Duties of Position: Provides vision, leadership and direction for Student Engagement department, Harper’s Early Alert Team, Student Engagement Communications and Marketing Assistant, and Student Conduct and Outreach. Oversight of student programs and initiatives including but not limited to student governance, clubs and organizations, leadership, multicultural programming. This position serves as a Title IX Deputy Coordinator. The Associate Dean is charged with integrating co-curricular programs currently housed in various departments to create a welcoming, inclusive and engaging experience for all students through leadership and collaboration with the Campus Well-Being Collective.

Provides vision, strategic direction, policy interpretation, implementation, program compliance, leadership, supervision, support and evaluation for the effective operation of the following areas; Department of Student Engagement including the Student Lounge; Student Government; Clubs and Organizations; Veteran and Military Connected student center and programming; Student Conduct and Outreach and student engagement communications and marketing.

Provides supervision, training, evaluation for all direct reports in areas of responsibility.

Responsible for development, implementation and assessment of Harper’s student leadership program; extracurricular transcript; Campus Climate programming and training in collaboration with the office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Title IX

Serves as a Title IX Deputy Coordinator, responsible for understanding and implementing Harper’s Sex Based Misconduct Policy and Procedures, responsible for compliance regarding campus wide Awareness and Prevention programming (Consent, Bystander Intervention, etc.) As Deputy Title IX Coordinator this role is part of the Title IX Grievance Team and p role(s) include but are not limited to Investigator, advisor and Hearing Panel member. This position will be trained in all aspects of the Title IX Grievance process.

Student Conduct/ Outreach

Provides oversight and direction for the student conduct and outreach program including but not limited to student/faculty rights, campus resources and reporting, classroom behavior management techniques,

Student Behavioral and Threat Assessment Team (HEAT)

Under the guidance of and in cooperation with the Dean of Students, the ADOS leads the Harper Early Alert Team (HEAT), including: ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations for Behavioral intervention and threat assessment teams on college campuses; oversight of case management and records, maintaining up to date procedures, ensuring members are trained annually and on an ongoing basis, and have access to resources, approving formal recommendations to the Dean of Students on behalf of the team, and responsible for submitting the HEAT end of year report in collaboration with the Student Conduct officer.

Student Programming

Responsible for the development, administration, implementation and assessment of the annual Campus Well-Being Collective programming model in partnership with Harper Wellness and other campus departments, Oversees and ensures campus wide collegiate programs, diverse programs and events that meet the broad interests and needs of multicultural students; provides opportunities for students to explore cultural identity in a safe and inclusive environment as well as campus climate programs and trainings.

Provides leadership and guidance for the Department of Student Engagement Clubs and Organizations, Veteran and Military Connected Student Center and program.

Works in collaboration with the Director of Student Engagement, faculty advisors and their respective Deans on club supervision, budget administration and end of year report evaluation. Administers and leads allocation process for budget including advisor stipends.

Actively supports the College initiatives focused on the recruitment, retention, academic success, and graduation of students of diverse and under-represented backgrounds and works to enhance the quality of under-represented students’ college experience through programming and leadership experiences. In collaboration with the office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, this position develops college practices and spaces that create a diverse and inclusive learning environment.

Provides direction and guidance on all marketing and communications for Student programming and outreach including but not limited to campus well-being collective, Harper Happenings, club & Organizations, student conduct programs.

Student Leadership

Responsible for development, administration, implementation and assessment of Harper’s Student Leadership programming

Serves as lead co-advisor for Student Government

Budget Administration

Responsible for oversight and administration of all student engagement budgets and allocation of all the student activity fees budget in consultation and collaboration with appropriate representatives of the student body, Academic departments and the Dean of Students. This responsibility includes the annual tri-month budgeting process and weekly approval of all student activity-related expenditures.

Serves on Shared Governance Committee(s) by administrative position. Serves as the Building A administrator. Responsible for Student Engagement functions in the absence of the Dean.

Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education leadership or related area required.

Experience Requirements: Minimum five years of progressively more responsible experience in student life, advising student clubs, student conduct, multicultural programming, and student leadership. preferably at the community college level. Evidence of work experience incorporating a global perspective and demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity in higher education. Demonstrated intercultural knowledge and competence.
