Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
The facilities department at UVU is seeking an Electrician III. The Electrician will maintain, repair and install all electrical systems, insuring good operation of all power and lighting systems. Required Qualifications:
High school diploma plus 4 years of directly related experience to the summary of duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling 4 years is required. Requires journeyman electrical license.

Requires a in-depth knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used within the physical plant or central plant trade.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of electrical, construction or maintenance type of work.
* Knowledge of local, state and national codes including fire, safety a nd electrical codes.
* Knowledge of skills related to those of an electrician.
* Skill in electrical maintenance work.
* Skill in calculating power, lighting loads for transformers and conductors.
* Skill in troubleshooting safety and accurately using meters, diagrams and common
sense.
* Ability to maintain a good relationship with general public, faculty and staff.
* Ability to function with dexterity and safety.
* Ability to read, write and follow directions.
* Ability to work with voltage up to 12,470.

Physical Requirements:
-Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. -Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
-Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
-Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Pay Range: $44,872 - $56,091 DOE
